We will be bringing this theme to life in some really fun ways by weaving herblore, myth, poetry, storytelling and even costuming into the conference experience.​

2026 Pre-conference Program
"Once Upon a Mushroom"
The highlight of our pre-conference program will be mushrooms! The pre-conference program will include Thursday lodging + Thursday night's Once Upon a Mushroom: Magic & Mayhem, a folklore gathering hosted by The Empirical Herbalist, Ruth Shelton. If you know Ruth, you know that myth, story, and magic are among her specialties. Folklore inspired costumes and mushroom hats are encouraged. This is going to be so fun!​
