2025 Conference Theme

For the Love of Wild Things

Our 2025 conference will weave together the themes of eco-herbalism, wild community, and the deep love that we have for plants, mushrooms, and nature.

We will be prioritizing proposals that reflect this theme.

Proposal Guidelines

To be considered, proposals must directly align with the goals of our conference and the categories outlined below. While there are many issues and topics that are very important to the herbal community and directly impact our lives and efforts, our conference is still too small to expand our workshop offerings to address many of these. Instead, personal and professional contacts we make at the conference will help us find others who are interested in being allies or partners in those efforts. Scheduled activities are reserved for offerings focused on the following topics:

Herbal Medicine Practices

Medicinal Mushrooms

Folk Medicine Practices

Foraging/Wildcrafting

Earth Care

Nature Connection

A basic schedule can be viewed on the Schedule webpage if you'd like to see how the conference will flow.

Program Schedule

Types of Proposals

Standard Workshops

Duration: 1.5 hours

Workshops include lectures, discussions, and hands-on classes. Proposals should clearly fit into one of the categories listed in the guidelines.

Medicinal Walks

Duration: 1.5 hours

Walks may include medicinal plant/tree/mushroom walks, foraging walks, nature walks, or any other walk that aligns with the conference topics.

Community Conversations

Duration: 1 hour

These facilitated conversations are intended to give participants the chance to brainstorm together about how to apply conference themes in their own lives and local communities. Group sizes will be 15-20 people and facilitators will guide the conversation with question prompts, redirection when needed, and insights of their own. Facilitators should have working knowledge of their conversation topic plus experience with group facilitation. Examples: Living Wild in a Tamed World, Eco-Herbalism in Everyday Life, Integration, etc.

For the Love of Wild Things Panel

Our Panel will feature 4-6 individuals who are presenting or leading other activities during the weekend. Panelists will be asked questions related to their own unique story, how they connect with wild medicine(s) they love, and what gives them hope for the future. When proposing a workshop, walk, or conversation, you will be asked if you would be willing to serve on the panel. The panel is intended to be a beautiful community gathering that will inspire participants, connect dots, and spark new ideas.
